1986... I was a phenomenally depressed loner who was into anarchism and sci-fi. I had about 4 friends and my big social event each week was Sunday afternoon gaming. The games varied: Risk, Diplomacy, role-playing games of various sorts, etc....

What else? I was just starting to get into punk music. I spent a lot of Saturdays in Harvard SQ at Newbury Comics - which actually sold comics back then - and used record stores buying actual records! Not CDs mind you... real vinyl records.

Not as fun a year as yours. But, oddly enough, I look back on it fondly.

OMG, we so totally passed each other in record stores. Everything had to be vinyl. Always. I still prefer vinyl. Do you know there's a Duran 12 inch with "I love the smell of vinyl in the morning." etched into the space next to the label?

We're you the one always getting all the good Husker Du albums before I could get to them???

guilty. But I'd have totally taped them for you if you'd asked me.

First of all, what a hell of a story.

I was 12. Starting middle school. Hated it.

And I found you a link to start your search with: Soultracks

Dedicated to soul classics

By the way, wanna take a ride on Lilo's Puberty Experience Simulator?

First play this, then play this.

In 1986, I loved the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and Duran Duran. I was so upset when my mom wouldn't let me see the Raising Hell tour or movie.

Hey Lilo: Thank you for those links. I now have a cd worth of excellent stuff, just what I was looking for. As for the first Play This, I tried, but I had to stop it immediately. I still have a hard time looking at Michael, there's a very raw spot in the heart of my beloved soulmate since Michael's death and it hurts me just to think about. The second one, the video was worth watching because she's beautiful, but I have to say (don't hit me) I kind of hated the song. Beastie Boys! lol, that's funny stuff.
